Reported from Reid and Amy who volunteered for this race:
Fun race with 29 racers and lots of Jackrabbits. The snow was fast, -4C and snowing lightly. The race was single knockout elimination sprints. Everybody did a timetrail to establish pairing and then we matched fasted with middle of the pack and worked through in paired sequences with the slower member of each pair getting a distance handicap to keep everyone close to the same finishing time. Lots of close finishes! In the end it came down to the teenage jackrabbit speedsters with Lucas Putnam having the fasted time only to be beaten out early by his handicapped pair. The four finalists were Fred Weaver, Adam Woods, Zane Heyes and Sergei Meshkov – with Zane Heyes taking the title.
Next race is a Classic race : Dave McKee will volunteers; surprise course, starts at 7:15
Banquet is Tuesday March 20th after our race (will confirm location)
Pics from Race # 11 (Relay) finally posted:

Safety: I talked to Bill Cooper the morning after the race ref. to our "close call" at the start. Since a few of us stopped and appologized, I think it was all good...(no official complaints made). Lesson learned: We will not cross tracks in the future.
Next race: Individual elimination sprints organized by Reid and Amy(?). Skate, 7:15 start.
Banquet: If you want to help for the draw prices, that would be great. I am usually doing MEC. Any ideas ? It could be anything. Need also to set the date. Cypress is closing night skiing March 21st ich, so the Tuesday that week is likely (providing that we can find a spot at the Lodge). I will keep you posted.
Photos of Race # 12 to come...

PS: Payak was great today, thanks Jamie and Siggies for organizing.

Guess which is this mountain !
Sorry, my mistake on the last post...no classic race until March 6th.
February 28th will be paired elimination sprints with very short sprints up probably on upper Wells Gray. Amy and Reid will volunteer for that one. Thanks to them !
(Feb 21st is still a skate race organized by UBC - Eric Carter - see last Post).

Next Tuesday night's race will be a 4 lap relay (using the shorter laps - map will be at registration). We will start/finish at the ski school flats. You can register in teams of 2,3,or 4 skiers and do whatever combination of laps you wish. Only the person skiing the anchor leg will get a bib. If you don't have a team, let us know at the registration table and we will find you one.
It will be fun !
Thanks to UBC for organizing another race
Race on Feb 28th will be a Free Style Race relay (sorry Classic is March 6th). Ok for volunteers.

Course was:
Great race and turn out and great grooming from Cypress as always...
Ranking Method: With no volunteers to time that race, I had to find some ways to at least rank the racers so I used the old "pin and paper" method; can'y screw up on the one (no electronics, no frozen pen issues).
Next race (Race # 10) will be a relay (Skate) organized by UBC.
Need to start thinking about draw prices
Volunteers: To save these races and keep them managed by our community, we need people to commit for next year, and if somebody wants to take over the all thing, please go ahead !!!
Valentine's day:
Bruno
PS: Results from last race to be posted soon.
